The plain-language terms.

1. What Bandit is intended for

Bandit is an adult-operated nursery display: a paper-like display and a companion app that a parent or caregiver controls, that shows high-contrast pictures and short lines for a caregiver to read aloud to an infant. It is intended to be placed in an infant's view and out of an infant's reach — on a wall, shelf or furniture, or held by the adult during a read-along.

Bandit is not a toy, is not intended for a child to hold or handle, and must never be attached to or placed in or on a crib, bassinet, playpen, stroller, or car seat. It is designed to run on its battery in the nursery and to be charged in another room, so that no cable is ever within a child's reach.

The Guide and the safety card are part of these terms. Using Bandit other than as they describe is a misuse.

2. What Bandit is not

Bandit is not a medical device and is not a substitute for medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, or improve any condition. We do not claim that it makes any child smarter, improves any child's vision, or is exempt from any pediatric guidance on screens. Bandit is research-informed; no study has tested Bandit itself.

3. Privacy

The full privacy policy is part of these terms. In short:

There are no accounts and no servers behind the display or the app. Photos you use for Family Faces are converted on your phone and sent only to your display over Bluetooth; they are never uploaded. The display's microphone measures loudness only and records nothing. When you choose your phone as the listener, speech is recognized on the phone and nothing is sent to us. The app collects nothing about you or your child and works fully offline. New decks are downloaded from a static file server that keeps no record of who asked.

If you ask for a Bandit on our website, we keep the name, phone number and age range you give us — on our own Cloudflare account, shared with no one — to run the Founding Family Program and for nothing else. We will text you about the program and about nothing else; reply STOP and we won't again. We delete what you gave us when the program ends or when you ask, whichever comes first.

4. The Founding Family Program

Founding-family displays are pre-production units lent to you, not sold. They remain the property of AG, Inc., the company that makes Bandit, and come back to us when the program ends or if you leave it. In return for early access you agree to:

use Bandit only as the Guide describes, and confirm in writing that you have read the safety card;
share honest feedback — a short check-in every two weeks and one conversation at the end;
tell us promptly about any damage, fault, or anything that worried you, and stop using a damaged display;
not open, modify, lend out, or sell the display; and
return the display at the end of the program (we pay the shipping).

We agree to replace a faulty or damaged display, to keep the app and decks working for the length of the program, and to tell you plainly what we learn.

5. Pre-production, warranty, and liability

Founding-family displays are pre-production. They have not been through the third-party safety testing that a finished children's product would receive, because they are not a children's product: they are designed and intended for use by an adult, out of a child's reach, exactly as section 1 describes. We keep the display's hardware unmodified so that its manufacturer's radio and battery certifications continue to apply.

We will replace a faulty display. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the program is provided as-is and AG, Inc.'s liability is limited to the value of the display. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for injury caused by a defect. Nothing here asks a parent to waive rights on behalf of a child.

6. Feedback and ideas

If you suggest a deck, a feature, or a phrase and we use it, it's ours to use, and we'll thank you for it. We won't use your name or your family's name publicly without asking first.

7. Changes and the end of the program

We may update these terms and the Guide as we learn; we'll tell you when we do. Either of us can end your participation at any time; the display comes back to us either way.

8. Governing law

AG, Inc. is a Delaware corporation, and these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute can't be settled by talking, it will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and both of us agree to that venue. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
